Now that the gift-giving holidays are behind us, it’s really time to celebrate. New Year’s is a great excuse to enjoy a good party, and Asheville is all about it. There is an endless list of events and parties planned all over town. Pretty much every bar, club, and restaurant with an 828 area code has something special in store for revellers. So, after combing through them we picked our top five choices.

1. NYE Masquerade at New Mountain AVL. This year the event features Empire Strikes Brass, Supatight and DJ Bowie. The doors will open 9 and you can get tickets in advance for $20, or $25 at the door. If you’re not prepared to dance and celebrate then don’t go, because this one is going to be a party. Plus Empire Strikes Brass is kick***.

2. Black Tie Event at Battery Park Book Exchange and Champagne Bar. Here’s a change of pace if you’re not looking for a raucous throw down. This spot is a favorite for many (especially Maggie) and NYE here promises to be pretty special. There will be an extended menu for the day, including champagnes they don’t normally carry, as well as live music from 8pm – midnight. It is a black tie event and they encourage customers to wear their snazziest get-ups for the get down. There is no cover, and if you would like to make a reservation, just call and ask for Donna.

3. New Year’s Eve Dance Party at Salvage Station. Alright, now we’re back to revelry. This event goes from 8pm – 2am, and tickets are only $10. Also, this is a great pick for 18+, as most of the others you have to be at least 21. There will be a live performance by PLAYDATE, then DR GETRIGHT will keep everyone dancing until the party ends.

4. Rock ‘n Rye New Year’s Eve Bash at Capella on 9. Confession time, this is the most expensive event on our list. However, it’s definitely going to be worth it. For $40, not only do you get access to one of the most stunning rooftops in Asheville, you will also receive a welcome cocktail, a champagne toast at midnight, and tapas will be served from 9-11pm. You are instructed to dress your best, and encouraged to find inspiration from your favorite era of the past. There will also be big band and DJ performances throughout the night.

5. 2nd Annual New Year’s Eve Ball in the Hall with the Grass is Dead. Okay we’re changing gears here again, people, try to keep up. This is for all you bluegrass lovers and deadheads out there. The doors open at 10 and the tickets are only $17-$20. As locals know, the Music Hall always puts on a great time.

Whatever your speed, whatever you choose, you have no excuse to be bored come NYE! There are plenty of options to go out and meet some new people! These are just a handful of the goings-on that we would love to attend, however there are many more. If you didn’t see something that speaks to you on our list, be sure to check out Romantic Asheville and Eventbrite.

Keep partying, Asheville! Be sure to share some of your NYE pictures with us! Just add #lifeintheavl and if they’re really good, you could be featured on our site!
