Here we are again! You just can’t keep us away from a good time; and one of our favorites would be a rooftop with amazing food and drinks. Capella on 9 must have known this about us when they decided to send us an invitation to come check out some new dishes for their Spring menu. It was like receiving the golden ticket to the chocolate factory! You have no idea how much we have dreamed of this day.

We ride the elevator of the AC Marriott hotel up to the ninth floor, where the doors open to the familiar, yet always spectacular sight of Capella on 9. The views, it’s all about the views, my friends. Or is it? The front of the hotel overlooks the city of Asheville with the charming street of Broadway below and beyond. It’s always a struggle to decide where to sit, but we head to the back for the views of the mountains with sweet little houses nestled upon it.

As Maggie fights a fierce battle between the wind and her luscious locks, Sydney our delightful waitress arrives. We kick things off with a cheers featuring their most famous cocktail, the Blood & Rye.We immediately settled in with this beverage full of vibrant flavors. It’s a bold rye whiskey accompanied by touches of cherry and blood orange. You could say we are fans.

First up, we are served a tasty appetizer of asparagus drizzled with lemon and accompanied by melted manchego cheese. We devoured this before remembering to save tummy space for the other dishes. Whoops! It was great though!

Next out was a flatbread topped with goat cheese, beets and arugula. These simple flavors came together smoothly to deliver a bite that was fresh and vibrant.

Then, out came one of our favorite dishes from our previous Capella on 9 adventure, the Coles De Bruselas. The picture says it all, but these fried brussel sprouts come with a smoky pimento aioli and lemon. Hello and we have missed you!

On this gorgeous, sunny day we decided to dabble in a tasting of two other cocktails on the menu. Above is the Ole Man Invierno, which is hot chamomile tea, applejack, spiced rum, honey syrup, cinnamon stick, lemon wheel. YUM. Maggie chose to sip on a Ginger Sour: absolut vodka, good bros ginger beer, lemoncello, lemon juice, cava, with a piece of candied ginger. The drinks prepared us for our favorite dish of this tasting.

Wow, I might be drooling a little looking at this and remembering. The salmon!! Which is something we raved about on our last visit here. This was a different dish entirely but the salmon was still top notch, my friends! This dish is fried salmon with a wasabi cream sauce, soy drizzle, and fried garlic.

As we happily munch down on this amazing meal (definitely giggling about something), Brandon comes over to see how we are doing. We gush about how much we love the salmon and he lets it slip its between two dishes to put on the menu. This dish, and a salmon nacho plate. We were devastated to hear we may never get to eat this plate of glory again. Fortunately, Sydney assured us that she LOVES the salmon nachos just as much. Whichever one they choose, we know it will be a winner. We know because we will be there to try!

So, IS it all about the views up here on the 9th floor in the heart of downtown Asheville?

.

The back area has tables and couches to sit, relax, and enjoy the views of some of downtown Asheville with the mountains surrounding. There is a spot for live music which you can always read about on their website.

The views from the front are of downtown Asheville and the city life on the streets below. It’s a slightly more private spot to dine with fewer tables.

There are so many great places to sit and have a conversation over cocktails, with a fire blazing to give it that cozy feel.

So, is it all about the views? I think not, my friends! At least, not entirely. With nosh like this, and views like that, Capella on 9 will keep us coming back again and again! Check it out for yourself and let us know what does it for you! The bar? The kitchen? Or the landscape?

Big shout out to Brandon and Sydney for taking great care of us and showing us a fantastic time!
