As part of the summer series “Get Out AVL” we want to share great ways to explore and enjoy what Western North Carolina has to offer. To make it fun, we decided to try out a couple adventures that were new to us, as well as revisit a few of our old school favorites. On an invitation from our friend, Tamara O’Connor, the Asheville Pubcycle became one of the first new things we tried.

We got sweaty, we got a bit tipsy, and we had a fantastic time as we pedaled our way from one end of downtown to the other. The tour made a couple pitstops at places like Conundrum (a speak easy mystery room) and Bhramari Brewery (a favorite of mine) so pedalers could pop in for beverages and bathrooms.

Once the tour was finished, we kept the fun rolling with a visit to Sunshine Sammies, a local ice cream shop with a knack for creatively delicious ice cream sandwiches.

In the end, the pubcycle is a great way to spend an afternoon, especially if you’ve got a good group of people.

Pro-Tip: Pedaling is part of the trip. If you’re not down to get active, you better sign up early for the seat at the back!
