Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE the summer and all the fun stuff that goes along with it. However, we have great reasons to get excited about the next few weeks.

  1. October is our birthday month!! Life in the AVL is celebrating its’ first year. We will be recognizing our passion baby all month with Sunday Cheers, our nod to Oktoberfest and highlight of local brews.
  2. For our birthday, we decided to attempt to repay all the support we have received since this journey took flight by focusing on Community. We will be highlighting some businesses and organizations that are finding ways to give back.
  3. We got a logo, and we’re gonna launch it! We commissioned a local artist to create a little something special for us, and we are finally going to share it with you.9218F716-8F66-4206-B4E2-414BD88D920C
  4. Our new Art Series is a-go! Each month, we will be featuring an artist and sharing a few of their pieces with you. This is a chance for us to get to know our local talents much better, and hopefully show some support for them. We will be starting with Christa Briana, the creative mind behind our logo!

A Note from Maggie:

Summer is definitely my favorite time of year and I’m as bummed as ever to see it go. However, this year’s seasonal depression will be held somewhat at bay by all the great things that October has in store. The thing I’m most excited about is the launch of our artist series. We have been wrestling with how best to make this happen, and I’m so proud that we are finally able to explore and share local art with you.

I’m also keeping the cool weather blues in check with a little secret I discovered a few weeks back. Feeling anxious, stagnant, and stiff – I decided to check out a yoga class. It had been a long time for me, and I felt my spirit could use a good romp just as much as my body. So, one Tuesday morning I ambled into a slow flow class at Asheville Yoga Center and found my new favorite place. Since then, I have started to take a few classes a week, at a couple of different studios; but the Tuesday morning flow with Alisa Lorraine is hands-down the best for me. It’s early in the day and week, and Alisa’s style smoothly establishes that forever sought-after mind-body connection. I leave her classes breathing deep and feeling high on life.

A Note From Jess:

632C13FC-5029-4128-ABF7-6FD79D7A733BJess, here! One thing I truly loved about our last series, Get Out AVL, besides the fact that it was all summer fun activities, was our girls’ picnic day! What could be better than adventuring around the open breezy fields at Max Patch with your gal pals by your side and two dogs leading the way? One of my favorite things of summer is just being in nature giggling with my homies.

What I look forward to in this next series full of giving back and serving our community is the “Do Good Date Night” on October 30th. We found out about this through the one and only, very helpful Asheville Date Night Guide, a resource run by locals to highlight all the fun couple activities to do around the area. I was just asking my husband today to be my date to it, upon which he asked “What are you getting me into now?” It is a fun night full of volunteering at Manna Food Bank, followed by playing games and enjoying food and drinks at Highland Brewing. Also, I just read it’s Halloween-themed, EEP! Read more about it by clicking HERE. I hope to see some of you there!

It’s an incredible gift to us to be able to share our days, weeks, months, seasons, and now our first year with this wonderful city. 38A3AE44-5CB2-4F24-B51A-B2011911DB16As ever, keep up the adventure, and keep an eye on our Instagram to keep up with ours!
