img_0756We have had a lot of fun this month contributing our time and efforts to fulfill our birthday wish, to give back. We enjoyed participating in the Race to the Taps events to benefit organizations like Children First/Communities in Schools, Kiwanis Club of Asheville, GO! Green Opportunities and Irene Wortham Center! Plus, the running part wasn’t so bad and we had A LOT of laughs throughout.

We are more than happy to highlight different organizations through our posts to help spread the word on such amazing people doing great things for our community. We hope it becomes infectious. We listed below a couple examples of some local businesses that are finding ways to pay it forward.

img_8121Maybe it’s by donating a share of their profits like local florist business, Blooms on Tap. Blooms on tap is a company not afraid to show their beauty, through their flowers and their hearts. Hope Blooms is the humanitarian side to the business where they contribute $1 from every regular bouquet sold is donated to Veteran’s Healing Farm. The owners Patty and Duncan have a soft spot for Vets. Patty is a vet and their son, Mac, is currently serving. They are also open to using their bouquets to help out in other ways, like fundraising!

img_0811Nest Boutique + DIY Studio is another local business that’s finding creative ways to give back. If you’re following them on Instagram you probably already know this, but they pick a different charity each month to receive 10% of their sales. As the owners are both women, they pick causes that empower women and girls, both locally and globally. Cheers, ladies!

Radical Self Love Event – Primal Studios Photo by Jenny Roberts

Primal Studios, the new buti yoga hot spot that just opened in West Asheville is another great example of a local business that’s using their unique skills to serve the community. Just a few weeks ago, they teamed up with Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders to host a “Radical Self-Love” event in which they held a free buti yoga class at One World Brewery West.

From the Halloween themed “Do Good Date Night”

We also want to give a shout out to Jenn Gordon, the Captain over at Asheville Date Night Guide. It’s all thanks to her that we were able to attend and promote the “Do Good Date Night” over at Manna Foodbank. Not only does Jenn keep us advised weekly on what to do with the “Best Bets” but she also works hard to invest in the community of Asheville. This is city is better for having people like her.

So we thank you all for being apart of Asheville and something I learned from the Do Good Date Night is that the statistics of the Asheville population contribute a lot of their time volunteering. We have big hearts here and not afraid to make a difference!
